fête Magazine: A taste of Aussie life and design

Exploring Australia again with fresh eyes (after 20 years abroad) has led to many new discoveries, one of which is the super stylish Australian lifestyle magazine ‘fête‘. This bi-monthly publication encapsulates the best of Australian design and the relaxed and friendly Australian lifestyle. It features beautifully designed spaces and design-led products together with personal stories and interviews with inspiring everyday people, their workplaces and homes.

With it’s fresh modern feel, light and sunny images and real life stories this magazine is the perfect pick-me-up. There are four regular issues published each year featuring a mixture of lifestyle topics including interiors, travel, food, and fashion as well as an annual fête kids issue and a Holiday issue.

I recently received my first ever copy of the latest issue ‘fête kids’, and let me tell you, if you are into design, kids, kids bedrooms, kids fashion and kids entertaining you will love it!

It showcases real people’s homes and stories as well as products by talented Australian designers and brands such as Castle and Things, Koskela, Black & Spiro, Kate and Kate, Cushionopoly, Pony Rider, Country Road, OllieElla, Kipp and Co, Homely Creatures, Boo & Child, Kikki-k and Pony Rider (to name a few) and includes a mixture of well known European brands such as Ikea, Ferm Living and Muji.

There are plenty of inspirational rooms for children of all ages created by the wonderfully talented Australian stylist and all round lovely person, Megan Morton.  Photographs by Jason Busch.

Here is a sneak peek inside the magazine. (sample pages taken from the current fête kids 2015 issue)

Oh yes, there are plenty of fun and modern accessories.

As well as taking a look inside the bedroom of fiercely independent six year old Eliza, you can party with dinosaur loving three year old Harry, get to know the life and home of Interior Decorator Briar Stanley of Sunday Collector, discover where to get a great lunch in Adelaide, get ideas for creating healthy lunchboxes, see the hottest kids fashion and more.

In the current issue you can also win a whole lot of gorgeous products in the Ultimate Children’s Room Giveaway (for Australian residents only). Curated by Megan Morton and photographed by yours truly, the prize consists of: everything shown in the three rooms below; a decorating session with Briar Stanley; and two tickets to Megan’s Kids Rooms Decorating Masterclass at The School with a total value of over $8,500! How fantastic is that!

Entry is simple – follow #megan_morton and #fetepress on Instagram, shoot any picture from the giveaway story in fête/kids or visit The School’s gallery in Sydney (located at 85 Dunning Avenue, Rosebery NSW) and take a pic – then post the pic to Instagram with the hashtag #mmfeteultimatekidsroom. Entries must be in by 12 July 2015.

Imagine winning everything below!

  1. Having watched Australia from afar, (especially the cricket), I think it has become the go to destination. The city’s look pretty amazing and the mix of old and new architecture. My next long holiday for sure.

    • Ha ha, yes – cricket does bring people from different countries together. You must make a trip out here – there is more new architecture than old but what is so lovely is that most homes are designed with outdoor living in mind.
