Milan Design Week 2014

Each year, Milan hosts the largest and one of the most important design shows in the world.  From the huge fairground of Salone del Mobile in Rho – just on the outskirts of Milan, to the design districts in the city centre where furniture showrooms and fashion stores pull in the crowds with parties, pop-up exhibitions and attention grabbing installations.

The main event in Rho, is the place to see established brands and designers launch new products and collections but for something completely fresh the show’s SaloneSatellite offers a look at creations by new and up-and-coming designers – all handpicked from around the globe.  Back in the city centre, urban coolness can be found in the warehouse venue for the 5th edtion of  Ventura Lambrate, along with Wallpaper* Handmade, and the satellite show for UK’s Design Junction.

Too much to mention, too many great places to go and see, particularly if you had a tight schedule as we did, but with lots of pre-planning, we were on a mission to cram in as much as possible. Click here to follow our Instagram feed and see photos-on-the-go, and watch out for a whole host of blog posts featuring our discoveries from this year’s event.

  1. I wasn’t able to go to Milan this year but your images from Instagram kept me in the loop. I love Tom Dixon’s Plane chandelier. Thank you so much.
