Mood Board: Outdoor living rooms

Outdoor living rooms…who wants one? We do – that’s for sure!  Style your patio or deck area with a good mix of seating including outdoor sofas, lounge chairs, floor cushions and poufs like the Kite Kilim Floor Pouf (4) from West Elm (also loving the whole range of poufs – see them here).  Rock on with The Rockcoco outdoor chandelier by Fatboy (2), hung from an overhead canopy or pergola and the Moo indoor/outdoor wall light (3) adds some fun.  Add more layers of lighting with these warm white LED festoon lights (5) ready for party time later in the day.

I could spend hours on Etsy searching out products from independent designer/makers and in doing so found these cushions (1) by PopOColor.  This set is made with ikat fabric by Nate Berkus.  PopOColor has a wide selection of cushions made in indoor/outdoor fabrics by Trina Turk, Schumacher and Jonathan Adler (great find!).

The black rattan lounge chair (7) and side table with glass top (6) is designed and made by MADE.COM – designer styling without the price tag, get yours before they sell out!  The red metal side table (9) with removable tray is just what you need for carrying refills to your guests – find it here along with lots of other dinky side tables.

Another find at West Elm is this graphic patterned MIAC Crossroads rug (11) created  in collaboration with Santa Fe’s Museum of Indian Arts & Culture.  Add more layers with additional rugs like this LUDDE sheepskin rug (8) by Ikea.com (would also look great on a chair) or the The Hex and The Chaplin (not on the mood board but also lovely rugs).

A fire bowl (10) like this one from Idyll Home creates a focal point and keeps you warm as the sun goes down.  And to ensure your plants are well dressed, get these geometric shaped planters (12) by Qui Est Paul?.  Enjoy the summer of 2013!  and pssssst… our favourite USA retailer West Elm not only ship to the UK but are also opening their first UK store in London later this year.  Happy days.

  1. It used to just be about some Sunbrella cushions and container gardens, but now outdoor decor is as important as within the home. It’s nice to see all the designers stepping up to the plate and offering products that can survive the elements. Nice roundup, dig the “black and white and red all over!”

Thanks Kim. Yes, so true – outdoor decor used to be so limited. Now there are so many stylish products designed specifically for outdoors. Makes decorating outdoor areas so much fun.
